Our kefir is usually only available through our retail stockists, but this week we have a small batch spare, so we're putting it online while it lasts.

Made from our own award-winning organic goats milk, this is a proper tangy, lightly fizzy kefir, full of live cultures and nothing else. Devon-farmed, family-run, and Soil Association certified organic since 2003, every batch is made slowly and honestly from milk we're proud of.

We make our kefir with our gently pasteurised milk rather than raw. We did try a raw milk version and, honestly, it was gloriously wild and fizzy, but a little too lively and unpredictable. The pasteurised version is more stable and more consistent, so it reaches you in the condition we intend. We do not re-pasteurise after culturing, so the kefir you receive is properly alive and full of live bacteria.

Goats milk is naturally easier to digest than cows milk, with a gentler protein structure and smaller fat globules, making this kefir a nourishing choice for those who find conventional dairy hard on the gut. Lovely sipped straight from the bottle, poured over granola, or blended into a smoothie.

Live cultures: Lactococcus lactis (subsp. cremoris, lactis, and lactis biovar. diacetylactis), Leuconostoc mesenteroides (subsp. cremoris and mesenteroides), Leuconostoc pseudomesenteroides, Streptococcus thermophilus, and the kefir yeast Debaryomyces hansenii.

Why you might love it

Naturally easier to digest. Goats milk contains smaller fat globules and a different protein structure to cows milk, making it gentler on the gut and a popular choice for those who find cows milk hard to tolerate.

Properly alive. We never re-pasteurise after culturing, so every bottle is rich in live, active cultures.

Rich in essential nutrients. A natural source of calcium, vitamin A, and potassium, supporting bone health, immune function, and everyday wellbeing, without the additives or fillers found in processed alternatives.

Storage and handling

Shake gently before opening. Keep refrigerated and store at the back of the fridge (not in the door) so it stays as cold as possible. Kefir is live and will continue to develop in the bottle, growing tangier over time. Has up to 3 weeks shelf life but once opened must be consumed within 3 days.

There are many benefits to drinking Goats milk besides the delicious taste. Here are a few:

— Goats milk contains smaller fat globules and a different protein structure to cows milk, making it gentler on the gut and a popular choice for those who find cows milk hard to tolerate.

More of the good stuff, retained — Our slow batch pasteurisation uses lower temperatures than conventional methods, preserving more of the milk's natural nutrients, enzymes, and flavour than standard commercial processing.

Storage & shelf life

To maintain the shelf life of your purchase, we recommend storing it at the back of the fridge (not in the door) so it stays as cold as possible.

If you wish to extend the shelf life you can freeze your milk upon delivery and it will last for 3 months in your freezer. Consume within 3 days once defrosted. Yoghurt is not suitable for home freezing.

Our shelf life is 4 days but generally fresh milk will last much longer than this if kept cold. It begins to taste goaty before it is unsafe to drink.
